Moss Engineering : What we do...
Moss
Engineering was born in 1993 from over 40 years of front line
experience in special purpose machine tool manufacture within 'Moss
Machine Tools' (1947-1992)
During that time I was involved with some fascinating Special purpose machine tool projects from the design stage onwards, and continue to offer a consultancy service in both the areas of design and troubleshooting. Further information can be found in the 'About us' section. Please refer to my industry references for your interest here. Our wider engineering work has now long been coupled with
an on-going love affair with Automotive engineering. It was,
however, in the arena of Motorcycle road racing that i gained experience
in the tuning and building of 'Scott' motorcycle engines and transmissions, and now offer my services in this area to those for whom only the best is good enough.
 We
also offer our services to owners of other machines who have damaged or
unsatisfactory engines or transmissions for which neither parts nor
specialists exist.
or where the quality of either, should they exist, is unsatisfactory.
See
here an example of a 1955 'MM' Works Endurance racer that was reputedly
a factory entry in the 1956 Milan-Taranto 1000 mile race.
This
engine needed some redesign work to the alternator drive and also
attention to the crank assembly, and the vernier cam timing arrangement.
Seen also is a shot of the machine being dyno tested to verify final timing and carburation settings.
Like for many others, there is no spares or specialist situation for
this machine, and this is often to the detriment of the engine and
transmission units as they never recieve the degree of attention they
require or that which they do recieve is lacking .
See here a 1932 Husqvarna, the engine of which is being repaired now (early 2007) Assessments
We
offer an assessment, which is charged accordingly to the time it takes,
which is followed by a full illustrated report detailing the findings
and our proposals for solution.
We are able to tackle all
project management, any redesign required and machining operations in
house as well as grinding, internal and external.
For all
other elements of a project that require the skills of an external
specialist, we have a network of trusted contractors that we have
worked with for up to thirty years.
We have overhead travelling
cranes throughout, so we are perfectly placed to deal with both
motorcycle engines and small car engines.

As the saying goes:
If you have a problem and no-one else can help...
Maybe you can call Moss Engineering.
